Going Home

Dear Heather,

I know you're all Emily-ied out after spending five days together in Michigan, but I checked the trophy at the house and it is indeed the infamous Detriot Times bowling trophy. I sent this photo to Uncle Mick.

You don't know pressure until you're bowling for the down payment on a house.

God bless Fran for marrying Gramps.
I really got perspective on this trip about just how resilient our family is. How motivating that our grandparents paid for a house with winnings from a bowling tournament, that our mom grew up being told everyone had a purpose no matter how big or small, and that the family mentality that 'we aren't poor if there's food in the house' is carried across generations (everybody always has very full pantries).
We are a dang good legacy if you ask me.
I'm comforted that our dedication to be good, hardworking people is carried throughout all the Callahan families. It felt more like going home than previous trips and it's very strange to have two 'homes'. I actually feel homesick today. It was also really good to share all of those times with you - we did not take a picture of just us either dang it - even if we did start to get on each other's nerves.
I hope your day back at work goes well and your classes aren't completely crazy.

Love you,
Em
